Changes to your Emergency Roadside Service coverage
Emergency Roadside Service coverage helps you when your vehicle becomes unsafe to drive or breaks down for a reason not related to an accident. It supports you during a mechanical breakdown or another unexpected issue to help you get back on the road quickly and safely.
As part of our commitment to our customers, we’re updating your Emergency Roadside Service coverage to better reflect the needs of drivers across Canada.
What you need to do
There’s no action required on your part. When your policy renews, your Emergency Roadside Service coverage will be automatically updated.
What you need to know
Here are the key updates that you’ll see on your Certificate of Insurance (COI) in your policy package:

| Policy level coverage | Emergency Roadside Service will now automatically apply to all vehicles of the same type (personal automobiles, motorcycles, and motorhomes), instead of needing to add it for each vehicle. You only need to purchase Emergency Roadside Service once per vehicle type (personal automobiles, motorcycles, and motorhomes). |
| Service request limit | A service request limit is the number of times you can call for help when your vehicle becomes disabled or unsafe to drive due to an unexpected issue (not related to an accident), such as a flat tire, dead battery, or the need for a tow. The number of service request limits is increasing per policy term for personal automobiles and remains unchanged for motorcycles and motorhomes. |
| Towing distance | Towing distance refers to the eligible distance, measured in kilometres (km), your vehicle may be towed after it breaks down. For personal automobiles, the towing distance is increasing, and you can now have vehicles covered under the policy towed to any location within the towing distance. There are no changes to the towing distance for motorcycles or motorhomes. |
| Satellite benefits | Satellite benefits are additional travel, medical, and vehicle coverage. They include Live Compass, Trip Planning, Trip Interruption, Worldwide Travel & Medical Referral, and Vehicle Experts coverage. Satellite benefits will no longer be offered to motorcycle and personal automobile customers and will be removed at your next renewal. Satellite benefits will continue for motorhome customers. |
