Aviva Canada adds industry top talent to its Commercial Lines and Global, Corporate and Specialty (GCS) teams

January 14, 2021 (TORONTO, ON) – Aviva Canada today announced that veteran insurance executive Urs Uhlmann has joined the company as Managing Director of Global, Corporate and Specialty (GCS) effective January 4, 2021. Mr.  Uhlmann will be part of Aviva Canada’s Executive Committee leadership team and report into Chief Executive Officer Jason Storah.

A strong property and casualty leader with more than 35 years of experience and a track record of driving profitable growth, Mr. Uhlmann brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to the role. He was previously Chief Executive Officer, Global Corporate at Zurich Canada and most recently, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Agent at AXA XL Canada.

“Our GCS and Surety business is critical to our success and I’m confident that Urs will be a tremendous asset to Aviva’s leadership team, taking this business from strength to strength with the valuable support of the broader GCS and Surety teams,” says Jason Storah.

Additionally, Craig Emuss will join Aviva as Head of Portfolio Solutions for GCS starting February 2021, and will be part of the GCS leadership team reporting into Urs Uhlmann.

Mr. Emuss spent the last 16 years in Northbridge Financial Corporation, most recently as Vice President, Specialty Risk. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, including a proven record in portfolio growth.

In commercial lines, Shaun Walsh, previously from Northbridge, has joined Aviva as Head of Property, Reinsurance and Exposure Management. Nathalie Czyzewski, previously from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, has also joined Aviva as Head of Casualty, in the Central Technical team.
