Aviva Canada applauds electronic proof of auto insurance in Ontario
September 5, 2019 (Toronto, Ontario) – The Ontario government today announced the approval of the use of Electronic Proof of Automobile Insurance (EPAI), or eSlips, for drivers in the province. From now on, Ontario drivers may carry electronic proof of auto insurance on their mobile device, including their smartphones.
“We applaud the government’s decision to approve the use of eSlips because it’s a step in the right direction,” said Phil Gibson, Managing Director, Personal Insurance at Aviva Canada. “This is an example of stakeholders collaborating effectively to meet the evolving needs of customers on choice and convenience. We continue to meet with other governments and regulators in order to advance eSlips approval in their provinces,” Mr. Gibson concluded.
With this approval, Ontario drivers can now present their eSlips to law enforcement officers within the province when asked. This follows the approval of eSlips in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Alberta.
