Who we are

An insurance leader

Aviva Canada is one of the leading property and casualty insurance groups in the country, providing home, automobile, lifestyle, and business insurance to 2.5 million customers coast to coast. A subsidiary of UK-based Aviva plc, we have the financial strength, scale and are a trusted insurance provider globally for more than 325 years.

Aviva is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aviva plc, one of the world's largest insurance groups and the largest insurance services provider in the UK.

We offer a broad range of homeauto and business insurance, and insurance-related products through thousands of independent brokers across Canada, and through our wholly-owned insurance intermediaries:

  • Les Services D'Agence Aviva Inc. / Aviva Agency Services Inc.
  • OIS Ontario Insurance Service Limited

Simplifying our business structure

As part of our ongoing commitment to better serve our customers, Aviva Canada is streamlining its legal structure. This change is designed to improve operational efficiency and make it simpler for brokers and partners to do business with us, while continuing to deliver the same trusted service and support our customers have come to rely on.

Based on a targeted date of January 1, 2026, we’re amalgamating the following underwriting companies with Aviva Insurance Company of Canada:

  • Elite Insurance Company (Aviva Lifestyle)
  • Traders General Insurance Company (Aviva Group)
  • Pilot Insurance Company

What customers can expect

Following regulatory approval of the amalgamation, targeting effective January 1, 2026 onward, renewal policy documents for customers currently underwritten by Elite or Traders will reflect the new legal entity: “Underwritten by Aviva Insurance Company of Canada”, with references to Aviva Lifestyle and Aviva Group, respectively. Some renewal policy documents may be sent to customers prior to January 1, 2026.  All new business policies will show “Aviva Insurance Company of Canada” following amalgamation.

Customers will not need to take any action. Their existing policies will remain in force with no changes to coverage, billing, and payment processes.
