Aviva Fleet Telematics can help reduce risk, and lower premiums

Many Canadian commercial fleet companies use telematics technology to enhance efficiency, safety, and profitability.

The real-time data on vehicle location, driver behaviour, and engine performance enables improved routing, reduced idling, and greater fuel efficiency. It also helps optimize preventative maintenance, safety improvements, and compliance with transportation regulations.

Now it can be used to customize Aviva’s fleet insurance for a company’s unique risk management and budgetary requirements. The new Aviva Fleet Telematics coverage uses companies’ existing telematics solutions to provide tailored insurance for commercial fleets.

How does Aviva Fleet Telematics insurance work?

Aviva Fleet Telematics uses the data you’re already collecting with your telematics system. Recognizing the investments that commercial fleet companies have made in this technology, we created an insurance solution that is compatible with most existing telematics service providers.

Draivn, Aviva’s data aggregator, collects the data from your telematics system and calibrates it in a live, integrated telematics-based dashboard. This is the hub where metrics like trip activity, driving behaviour, location, speeding, harsh braking, and cornering are captured and consolidated into an AccuRate risk score.

Insurance premiums can be affected based on changes to your risk score. If driver behaviour and other risk factors are better than average, according to the telematics data, your company will receive a premium credit.

If your fleet scores in the high-risk range, Aviva’s commercial fleet specialists will work with you to provide mitigation strategies that could help avoid an additional premium. Our team will continuously review metrics and reach out to share concerning trends and offer custom coaching and support to complement your own risk mitigation measures.

It's important to note that your company’s risk score, and the metrics it’s based on, is securely available to you on the Draivn dashboard. You will be able to see how Aviva evaluates risks associated with your fleet.

A proactive approach to fleet safety

Aviva Fleet Telematics is designed to be a baseline to help improve overall operations and empower fleet operators to take ownership on how they manage their fleet risk and drivers.

The risk scoring system incentivizes better overall fleet performance and driver management towards safety and risk reduction. It also allows management to take a proactive approach to accident/claim prevention and identify potential high-risk exposure through data-driven insights.
