Aviva Canada appoints new leaders in Risk, Claims and Information Technology

Rounding out Aviva Canada’s leadership team with top industry talent

July 26, 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Aviva Canada is proud to announce three recent additions to its executive team: Bryant Vernon, Chief Claims Officer; Nicole Brouillard, Chief Information Officer; and Michel Dionne, Chief Risk Officer.

Chief Claims Officer (CCO) – Bryant Vernon

Bryant Vernon joins Aviva Canada as the new Chief Claims Officer. Having recently moved to Canada from the United States, Bryant brings diverse and extensive claims management experience from companies such as Liberty Mutual and Solera. Prior to joining Aviva Canada in May 2018, Bryant was Global Head of Data Science and Services at Solera where he helped insurance carriers improve profitability. He is passionate about claims and is committed to transforming the customer journey at Aviva.

 

Chief Information Officer (CIO) – Nicole Brouillard

Aviva’s new Chief Information Officer, Nicole Brouillard officially joined the Canadian leadership team in June 2018. Nicole recently held the role of Chief Information Officer at Travelers Canada. She also held leadership roles at TD Canada Trust and Chubb. Nicole is a strong technology strategist and brings a 20-year track record of delivering advanced technical and business transforming solutions to various Fortune 500 global companies.

 

Chief Risk Officer (CRO) – Michel Dionne

Effective August 20, 2018, Michel Dionne will assume the role of Chief Risk Officer at Aviva Canada. Michel was previously Appointed Actuary at Intact Financial.  Over the past 27 years Michel progressed his career at Intact and brings a deep breadth of knowledge in reserving as well as personal and commercial lines pricing.  Michel is a Fellow and an active committee member of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society.

 

More new and interim appointments

In addition to the new appointments of Bryant Vernon, Nicole Brouillard and Michel Dionne, Peter Walker also joins Aviva Canada as Chief Technical Underwriter. Peter comes from an extensive insurance background, holding various roles at Zurich Insurance Group before joining Aviva Canada’s underwriting team. Peter reports directly to Phil Gibson, who has assumed the role of Chief Underwriting Officer and leading the personal lines business. Phil joined Aviva Canada in early 2016.

On the commercial lines side, Mazdak Moini is leading Small-Medium Enterprise in the interim and John Mattioli is heading up Global Corporate and Specialty as Executive Director.

Jason Storah assumes the role of Chief Distribution Officer at Aviva Canada and Ben Isotta-Riches is now Chief Digital and Partnerships Officer. Both Colin Simpson, Chief Financial Officer, and Danny Davies, Chief People Officer, remain in their current leadership roles.
