Product Notes: Triphapa Guggulu is a traditional Ayurvedic Herbal blend of Triphala, Pippali and Guggulu. The formula is comprised of roughly 11 % Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), 11 % Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica), 11% Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), 11% Pippali (Piper longum) and close to 56% Guggulu (Commiphora mukul). Triphala is one of the most used tonics in Ayurveda for whole body balancing and cleansing. Traditionally it has been used to stimulate digestion, improve circulation and aid elimination. Unlike other herbal laxatives, Triphala is considered a gentle detoxifier; it nourishes and cleanses as it removes toxins from the body. It is said to balance the three constitutional elements of human life: the nervous system, metabolic processes, and the body’s structural integrity. Pippali or Long Pepper is a close relative of black pepper. It is heating in action and so should not be used in excess with those with high Pitta. In Ayurveda it is said to remove cold and congestion as well as Ama (excess mucous). It is rejuvenative and stimulates both the digestive and respiratory system. It is often added with other herbs for it is known to increase the absorption of other nutrients. Guggulu or Guggul Gum is a yellow resin produced by the stem of the mukul myrrh tree. It has been used for thousands of years as the most important resin in Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine with both purifying and rejuvenating benefits for various systems of the body. Ayurvedic practitioner, Alan Tillotson states that the herb is “a longevity tonic that stimulates the breakdown of mucus, tumors, fat and cysts. It has been used for centuries to treat abnormal growths, tumors, cysts, arthritis, glandular swelling, cancer, inflammation and as a rasayana for promoting long life and health.” When combined with Triphala, this herbal formula was traditionally used in Ayurveda to counteract obesity, blood disorders, constipation, skin problems, chronic venereal disease and sores that were difficult to heal.
