Guidelines For Purchasing an Air Purifier
With so many different air purifiers out there, how does the average consumer choose which one to buy? I have put together some important information every consumer should know when purchasing an air cleaner.
First, determine the reason you are purchasing an air filter. Do you need one for odors and gas control? Do you need it for airborne allergens? Or are you purchasing one to help with viruses? Determining your needs is crucial when choosing an air purifier.
If you are in search of an air purifier that aids in odor and gas control you will need one that first removes the particulates in a pre-filter, and then the odor and gases are removed by a gas filter. Gas molecules are so small that even the finest Hepa filter can't remove them. Good candidates for odor and gas control are the IQ Air Multigas and Allerair air purifiers.
If you are looking for an air purifier to assist in eliminating allergens, you should choose one that will remove large particulates such as pollen with a pre-filter, but also remove smaller allergens. Smaller allergens include mold, bacteria, animal dander, fumes, etc.
If you are searching for an air purifier that will aid in sterilizing a virus, there are machines that utilize ultraviolet light in combination, or as a standard alone machine, where the rays break down DNA and RNA of the microorganism. It doesn't kill the microorganism, but it can sterilize them preventing them from reproducing and growing.
There are four different types of electronic air cleaning. The first is called an electrostatic precipitator. The second uses a media charged filter. The third, is the negative ionizer and finally, the fourth is the ozone machine.
The more serious the air quality problem is around you, the purer the air around you needs to be. For example, a person with light allergies may feel quite comfortable with a cheaper air purifier, while a person with sever allergies may feel that same air purifier to be ineffective.
The size of your room plays a huge factor when choosing an air purifier. Also, the place you are going to put the air cleaner is significant. If you will be placing the air purifier in a bedroom it is probably best to purchase a quieter one with less air exchanges during the night. Placement of an air purifier on the sides or ends of a room will be able to filter the particles on opposite sides of the room.
In summary, there are many factors that go into purchasing an air purifier. I have named a few of them for you. When purchasing an air purifier always make sure that you are looking for one that is tailored to your needs and your home.
